It is a growing trend – and why not when COVID restrictions mean limited options anyway?
Boris and Carrie Johnson managed to keep their micro wedding a secret before celebrating with just thirty guests as per current rules. If you have dreamed of your big day being, well BIG, then you may not have even considered the micro option. While fewer guest might seem to limit or even delay your wedding plans, thinking small might actually be the perfect choice for your wedding
So many couples have already delayed their weddings, more than once in some cases. Booking your special day still carries risk of further delays and postponements even now. You would much rather be Mr and Mrs. and get on with the rest of your life, and the good news is that you can. Celebrate your wedding now with your nearest and dearest – the ones allowed to travel at least – and plan a larger celebration at a later date including all those who could not attend this summer for whatever reason.
We cant dismiss the fact that many of us have suffered financially during the pandemic and a micro wedding would be the answer as it can save you money. A smaller scale wedding with fewer guests means all the style with less expense on your part. Looking at it from a different perspective, maybe you can book that special but ‘way too expensive for a full guest list’ venue after all. That way you don’t have to compromise on style or quality.
You really can have what you want! Rather than fulfilling the expectations of others, especially if they are contributing to the finances, you can craft your wedding day to include only what and who you really want to be a part of your day. While you are thinking that through why not dispense with some of the expected traditions that don’t fit with your vision and values, and even add a few new traditions of your own. I can suggest some if you are stuck for ideas.
It’s no secret that big weddings can be very stressful and exhausting. On the other hand you can choose to have a relaxed and enjoyable experience, a warm atmosphere and more time with your guests. When restrictions are lifted you can always celebrate with a wider group of friends and family and even re-state your vows for those who feel that they missed out.
Whatever you want for your special day, I can help you create your perfect wedding ceremony, and perhaps a larger celebration when restrictions allow. Mr and Mrs Johnson have already sent their ‘Save the Date’ notes for next summer. I do wonder if they still have their fingers crossed though.
